The more we learn, the more Ridley Scott’s PROMETHEUS seems to parallel his seminal sci-fi effort, ALIEN. And today’s no exception…

According to Sky Movies, PROMETHEUS will feature an 8-foot tall Animatronic Space Jockey, the skeletal remnants of which were seen in the opening sequence of Scott’s 1979 magnum-opus. The piece of machinery was designed by Swiss F/X master, H.R. Giger (who culled an Oscar for his work on ALIEN).

As cool as that sounds, it’s also said Scott is planning to feature a giant alien head that pilots a spacecraft. Although it’s sure to be CGI, it’s a pretty kick-ass visual you’re imagining right now isn’t it?!?

Here’s a quote from a production insider:

“I’ve had further confirmation that the Space Jockey creature is definitely in Prometheus and has been built as an eight foot animatronic. I’ve also had it confirmed that HR Giger is working on the project but only in an advisory capacity. By the way, people are going to be in for a shock when they sit down to watch Prometheus and there’s an enormous semi-human head piloting a spaceship.”

Cool f*ckin’ sauce, no?

With Noomi Rapace, Michael Fassbender and Charlize Theron (below), PROMEHEUS lands in theaters June 8th, 2012.
