Rob Liefeld doesn’t think Cable will appear in X-Men: Apocalypse

With X-MEN: DAYS OF FUTURE PAST a hit both critically and at the box office, the future of Fox’s Marvel mutant properties turns to both X-MEN: APOCALYPSE and the in development X-FORCE movies. One key character between those two storylines is fan favorite Cable. But, creator Rob Liefeld posted some comments on Twitter regarding where he thinks the silver-haired mutant will appear.

Now, despite holding a historical place as a comics writer and creator, Liefeld is not in the know regarding X-MEN: APOCALYPSE, so this could be entirely in his own mind, but he does say that when the follow-up to DAYS OF FUTURE PAST was announced, it threw all of Fox’s plans for the X-MEN franchise into disarray. Does that mean that the X-FORCE movie was affected by the existence of X-MEN: APOCALYPSE? That remains unclear, but Liefeld did say this:

Cable plays a very important role in the Age of Apocalypse storyline in X-Men lore, but that doesn’t mean he will appear in X-MEN: APOCALYPSE versus X-FORCE. He could appear in one or the other, or if X-FORCE gets made first, he could appear in both. What sort of connection is being built between the two movie franchises is unknown.

Currently, X-FORCE is being written by KICK-ASS 2’s Jeff Wadlow while X-MEN: APOCALYPSE has a release date of May 27, 2016.
