Wait a second, a horror/thriller starring two people over the age of 35? This cannot be!

Ah, but it is, and refreshingly so, as Variety reports that the Raging Bull himself, Bobby D, has joined the previously announced Sigourney Weaver in RED LIGHTS, Rodrigo Cortez’s follow-up to his indie hit BURIED.

RED LIGHTS focuses on a psychologist, played by Weaver, and her assistant whose study of paranormal activity leads them to investigate a world-renowned psychic (De Niro).

No doubt the role of Weaver’s assistant will go to someone younger, but I still think it’s rather cool that we have a high-profile thriller from a burgeoning genre director starring two classic thesps instead of manipulating it to skew younger. Thankfully, no one was apparently there to say, “Well, what if it’s Anne Hathaway and Robert Pattison instead?”

Production will begin in February, lensing seven weeks in Spain and two in Canada.
