If you're looking for a little more estrogen in your testosterone, then look no further than THE EXPENDABELLES!
We've heard rumblings of the all-female version of THE EXPENDABLES for a while now, but the project has taken another step forward with the hiring of Robert Luketic to helm the pic. So far, no cast is set, but there's been a handful of names tossed around since the project was first brought up, including Meryl Streep, Milla Jovovich, Cameron Diaz, and Gina Carano. The film is being written by the LEGALLY BLONDE team of Karen McCullah Lutz and Kirsten Smith.
Here's the logline:
When America’s Navy SEALs are wiped out trying to penetrate the island lair of a deadly despot who has captured one of the world’s top nuclear scientists, it becomes clear that there is no such thing as the right man for the job and that this is a mission so impossible that only women can handle it. The only way in: some of the world’s deadliest female operatives must pose as high-class call-girls shipped in by private plane to satisfy a dictator–and instead save the scientist and the day.
Soooo, we're killing off all Navy SEALS in this flick? Sure. I buy it. When America's elite can't pose as prostitutes they call in: THE EXPENDABELLES! In all seriousness, I could see this being a fun flick and it would likely get my $12 bucks, but I'm certainly not anticipating anything on the level of DIE HARD here. Shit, it would be hard to measure up to THE LONG KISS GOODNIGHT, which I still consider one of the best female-driven action flicks of all time. We'll see.
