Robin Hood: Origins, the reboot everyone’s clamouring for, gets release date

Gritty reboots are all the rage these days. Ever since BATMAN BEGINS started the trend, we've since seen gritty reboots of James Bond (CASINO ROYALE), Snow White (SNOW WHITE AND THE HUNTSMAN), GODZILLA, FANTASIC FOUR, and just next year we'll be seeing another one for King Arthur (Guy Richie's KING ARTHUR: LEGEND OF THE SWORD), among countless others.

Well, let's just throw another one into the mix, shall we? Apparently Lionsgate will be giving Robin Hood a new gritty reboot with ROBIN HOOD: ORIGINS, which is even more obnoxious than usual because there already was a gritty Robin Hood reboot starring Russell Crowe and Ridley Scott that came out only six f*cking years agoAnd it's not even the only Robin Hood movie currently in development

To be fair, gritty reboots aren't necessarily bad (BATMAN BEGINS and CASINO ROYALE are both amazing, and arguably the best in each respective series, and even the flawed GODZILLA had its moments). It's honestly just the proliferation and impementation that can be a bit overwhelming. And this one at least stars Taron Egerton (who killed it in KINGSMAN) as the titular hero, so there's still some hope yet. It's also being directed by Otto Bathurst, who worked on the stylish crime series PEAKY BLIDNERS, so at least it'll look good.

The film, which also stars Jamie Foxx as Little John, now has an official release date: March 23rd, 2018.

So what do you guys think? Down for another gritty reboot? Sound off below!
