It was only yesterday that we learned Swedish actor Stellan Skarsgard is inches from assuming the villainous role of Martin Vanger in David Fincher’s THE GIRL WITH THE DRAGON TATTOO. Such a decision was met with opposing views, some loving it, some not so much. Well, here’s another piece of potential casting news for y’all to chomp on…the lovely Robin Wright is in negotiations to play a role in the flick!
Word comes from Deadline, who states Wright is eyeing the part of Erika Berger, the publisher of crusading finance magazine Millennium, and the occasional lover of journalist Mikael Blomkvist (to be played by Daniel Craig). The titular lead, named Lisbeth Salander, has still yet to be cast.
Hitting theaters December 12, 2011 – THE GIRL WITH THE DRAGON TATTOO dates back forty years ago, when Harriet Vanger disappeared from a family gathering on the island owned and inhabited by the powerful Vanger clan. Her body was never found, yet her uncle is convinced it was murder and that the killer is a member of his own tightly knit but dysfunctional family. He employs disgraced financial journalist Mikael Blomkvist and the tattooed, ruthless computer hacker Lisbeth Salander to investigate. When the pair link Harriet’s disappearance to a number of grotesque murders from almost forty years ago, they begin to unravel a dark and appalling family history. But the Vanger’s are a secretive clan, and Blomkvist and Salander are about to find out just how far they are prepared to go to protect themselves.
