I’m not sure they need, it but Showtime is doing quite a service to its hit series “Dexter” by releasing one piece of casting news at a clip. In the last six weeks, we’ve learned Julia Stiles, Shawn Hatosy, Maria Doyle Kennedy, April Lee Hernandez and Johnny Lee Miller are all poised to avert the blade of Michael C. Hall’s forensic-vetting madman. But today, Dexter may have met his ultimate match!
According to Deadline, RoboCop himself Peter Weller has been added to the 5th season of “Dexter” and will appear in eight of the 12 episodes, playing a troubled Miami Metro police officer who gets caught up in an internal affairs investigation.
Sounds pretty f*ckin’ rad to me. Not only has Weller appeared in such badass fare as ROBOCOP, NAKED LUNCH, LEVIATHAN, SCREAMERS, etc., dude’s been steadily toiling in television for the past decade or so, most recently in “Monk” and “Fringe.” Dude’s primed for this gig it seems!
But what do y’all think? Is Weller a good addition to the series or are they casting this thing up too heavily to keep with the show we all know and love?
“Dexter” goes back on the air September 26th.
