Dwayne The Rock Johnson has signed on to star in THE TOOTH FAIRY, a Fox comedy that sounds an awful lot like THE SANTA CLAUSE. In the film, Johnson will star as a guy recruited to take over for the Tooth Fairy and save the toothy kingdom. Don’t be shocked but FAIRY will be directed by Michael Lembeck who directed both SANTA CLAUSE 2 and 3. The script was written by Lowell Ganz & Babaloo Mandel and Joshua Sternin & Jeffrey Ventimilia. Johnson seems content leaving the action films behind and sticking to comedy with THE GAME PLAN, RACE TO WITCH MOUNTAIN, GET SMART and now dressing up in a pink tutu and collecting teeth from underneath kids’ pillows. Wasn’t this guy supposed to be the heir apparent to Arnold Schwarzenegger? C’mon, where’s The Rock’s PREDATOR? Now I don’t mean that he should star in a PREDATOR movie but he needs his own classic action film like Schwarzenegger. I mean, I like Rock Johnson but he’s not exactly Will Ferrell. Regardless, TOOTH FAIRY is going ahead and will begin filming this August. GET SMART is scheduled to hit theaters on June 20th.
