It’s been a bumpy ride so far for Greg McLean’s killer croc movie ROGUE, the Aussie director’s eagerly-anticipated follow-up to his nasty WOLF CREEK. After finishing shooting last February, and bouncing around multiple release dates, a couple days ago Fangoria reported that ROGUE was receiving the ultimate diss, a direct-to-DVD dump in the summer. People were confused, saddened, angry at the movie gods…
But maybe all is not lost! Moviehole is reporting that the Weinstein Company is still going ahead with a theatrical release, and a visit to the company’s website seems to confirm that an April 20 date is still set.
Could be that wires were crossed, could be that the Weinsteins realized people WANT to see this flick, who knows. All we can do is sit and pray my friends, that the recently revived angry-at-humanity crocodile genre gets its second theatrical release of the year, and this one worthy of our hard-earned monies. The film stars Michael Vartan, John Jarrett, and uber-cutie Radha Mitchell (Pitch Black, Silent Hill), who seems to like the monster movies.
