Another day, another project that Michael B. Jordan is being sought for. The young FRUITVALE STATION star has been the buzz of Hollywood for projects ranging from the ROCKY spin-off CREED to the role of Human Torch in the upcoming FANTASTIC FOUR reboot. The next rumored role for the young actor may be the sequel to INDEPENDENCE DAY.

The Wrap states that while Jordan has not been offered the role, he is high on the list for both 20th Century Fox and director Roland Emmerich. Emmerich has met with several actors for a substantial role in ID FOREVER. Some are assuming that with the sequel taking place years after the original movie that the part Jordan is being sought for could be Will Smith‘s replacement as the actor has voiced he will not be returning for the new film.

With Bill Pullman and Jeff Goldblum both agreeing to come back, it would work for the new star to be an original creation, but to keep continuity the part could also be stepson to Smith’s Steven Hiller. The character of Dylan in INDEPENDENCE DAY was played by Ross Bagley in the 1996 film but could easily be replaced by Jordan. That would be a nice connection between the two films, albeit not a necessary one.

ID FOREVER is slated to be released in two parts with the first hitting theaters in 2015.
