Romero who, you may ask? GEORGE Romero, ya frakkin’ goof! (apologies to those who didn’t ask “Romero who?”)
The King of the Zombies sent AintItCoolNews a message to all the fans rabidly awaiting the fifth chapter of his “dead” series, DIARY OF THE DEAD.
Actually, “fifth chapter” may not be technically correct, since everything I’ve heard about the flick implies that it’s not exactly related to the previous 4. Indeed, Romero says it’s neither sequel nor remake. It’s something of a “reboot” – a word that is dreaded ’round these parts nowadays – but in this case I think we’ll give it a pass and be happy the man is again working with shambling, flesh-eating corpses. Here’s hoping they don’t fire machine guns or get all emotional when their comrades take a bullet to the brain. I like my zombies indifferent! (I suppose “Bub” is an exception.)
Romero begins the message surprisingly: “It’s the first film since my original Night of the Living Dead that I can say is completely my own.”
