Ron Perlman chats his role in Conan reboot, says “there’s big time sword action”!

So what’s up, will you be catching the Black Plague in SEASON OF THE WITCH this Friday?

Come on, the shite looks like a debacle of epic proportions, and with Nic Cage reverting to a Cameron Poe mane…bleached blonde…the entertainment value on this bastard is potentially off the charts. Besides, Dominic Sena has made a decent film or two, KALIFORNIA being my favorite (get me some chilly beans Ayy-dele!). I bet it’s not a total loss!

In any event, SEASON OF THE WITCH star Ron Perlman is also set to clank swords in Marcus Nispel’s CONAN reboot this coming August(as I’m sure you know). As such, Hellboy himself spoke to The Examiner and dished a few deets on his role in the Nispel’s version, which is officially titled CONAN THE BARBARIAN. Scope what Perlman had to say (be mindful of spoilers however):

“I play Conan’s father. There’s big-time sword action. But I’m only in the movie for 10 minutes. I can’t tell everything, but the first sequence is huge. It’s epic. All I can tell you is that I work with the Conan who’s 11 years old. And there’s a jump cut to Conan the adult, and I’m no longer on the scene… I never worked with [Jason] Momoa, who’s the adult Conan. I only worked with this kid [Leo Howard], who’s a phenomenal actor. And he’s like a North American champion of swords since he was 4 years old. He had a black belt [in martial arts] by the time he was 4. He’s a swordsman and he’s mind-boggling. He made me look like a piker.”

Hmm, kinda bittersweet, this news. It’s cool to hear CONAN is gonna be action-heavy, done so on a grand scale…but Perlman’s limited involvement is kind of a bummer. Oh well, more reason to see him make the medieval pilgrimage with Nicky Cage this Friday.
