Rumor: WB wants Karl Urban for a role in Aquaman; Noam Murro to direct

Last Updated on August 2, 2021

With all the media focused on BATMAN V SUPERMAN: DAWN OF JUSTICE and SUICIDE SQUAD, we sometimes forget about all the other movies in development in the DC Cinematic Universe. With Jason Momoa confirming he will star in AQUAMAN, the next step is to find the villain as well as a director to helm the undersea epic.

Latino Review, that bastion of rumors and unnamed sources, has claimed to have heard that Warner Bros. is patiently waiting for STAR TREK 3 to complete production so they can nab Karl Urban to portray a role, possibly the villain, in AQUAMAN. Urban was once rumored as a potential Batman candidate but I can easily see him portray an awesome villain in the AQUAMAN movie. I have heard some say he would make a great Ocean Master and I cannot disagree.

As for director, the sources claim that Noam Murro is being courted as a possible option. Murro directed the sequel 300: RISE OF AN EMPIRE, the follow-up to Zack Snyder's original. Snyder is, of course, the man directing JUSTICE LEAGUE so it makes sense that he would give his colleague a nudge in the right direction.

Remember, this is all conjecture and rumor until a press release comes down, but just look how long we all knew Jason Momoa was WB's Aquaman before it became official. AQUAMAN hits screens on July 27, 2018.
