Rodrigo Cortes’ exercise in solitary confinement is only a week or so away from its limited run, going wide just a week after that. As such, Empire has locked an exclusive new look at BURIED, one in which Ryan Reynolds’ gets rained on by a deluge of dirt. What’s not to love about that set-up?
Now, we’ve made plenty of jokes regarding the utter delights of seeing Reynolds wangle in a pine-box, but dude’s actually culling some of the most positive reviews of his career for this flick. Kudos to him, and his ability to break from the Van Wilder mold…one he could have easily rode to retirement. Also, big-ups to Cortes and yet another color scheme achieved underground…this time incendiary oranges to go with all the neon tech stuff seen in the past (cell phones, lights, zippos, etc.)
Opening wide October 8th:
Paul Conroy isn’t ready to die.
But when he wakes up 6 feet underground with no idea of who put him there or why, life for the truck driver and family man instantly becomes a hellish struggle for survival. Buried with only a cell phone and a lighter, his contact with the outside world and ability to piece together clues that could help him discover his location are maddeningly limited. Poor reception, a rapidly draining battery , and a dwindling oxygen supply become his worst enemies in a tightly confined race against time- fighting panic, despair and delirium, Paul has only 90 minutes to be rescued before his worst nightmare comes true.
Robert Patterson, Samantha Mathis, Stephen Tobolowski, Jose Luis Garcia Perez, Warner Laughlin, Ivana Mino, Erik Palladino, Anne Lockhart and Judy Reyes also star in the film.
