The first thing I thought of when glancing over these new photos of Ryan Reynolds in BURIED was, “man oh man that coffin makes for some sweet lighting.”
Seriously, we’ve got a whole bevy of new looks at Rodrigo Cortes’ exercise in claustrophobia, and each of them feature a varied glow I find hard to achieve 6-feet under the soot. Blues, greens, oranges, yellows…for crying out loud, it’s a f*ckin’ Argento flick going on down there. I don’t know, I guess I’m used to the raw black-and-white images of THE VANISHING or the coffin segment in KILL BILL to know any better. Not to say BURIED will be a bad flick because of it…but it’s definitely something that caught my eye.
Getting BURIED October 8th:
Paul Conroy isn’t ready to die.
But when he wakes up 6 feet underground with no idea of who put him there or why, life for the truck driver and family man instantly becomes a hellish struggle for survival. Buried with only a cell phone and a lighter, his contact with the outside world and ability to piece together clues that could help him discover his location are maddeningly limited. Poor reception, a rapidly draining battery , and a dwindling oxygen supply become his worst enemies in a tightly confined race against time- fighting panic, despair and delirium, Paul has only 90 minutes to be rescued before his worst nightmare comes true.
