Ryan Reynolds to star in Paul King’s monster comedy Everyday Parenting Tips

Per Deadline, Universal Pictures is putting together a package which will revolve around Simon Rich's New Yorker short story, "Everyday Parenting Tips." The project is slated to star Ryan Reynolds (FREE GUY) with Paul King (PADDINGTON) attached to direct.

EVERYDAY PARENTING TIPS will find Ryan Reynolds playing a dad who is dealing with the everyday challenges of family and raising kids which is made all the more difficult by the ongoing Great Monster Uprising. You're telling me. Simon Rich's short story describes creatures such as Gorgog the Annihilator, Ctharga the Eater of Souls, as well as the Drain of Ga, a "giant, swirling portal in the sky that looks like a screaming mouth." I'm down, especially with the involvement of Paul King as I consider his two PADDINGTON movies to be practically perfect family films. Simon Rich will pen the script and adapt his own story, much as he did with AN AMERICAN PICKLE, HBO Max's soon-to-be-released comedy which stars Seth Rogen as an immigrant who falls into a vat of pickle brine and emerges perfectly preserved a century later.

AMERICAN PICKLE is slated to debut on HBO Max on August 6th, and you can check out a review of the film from our own Alex Maidy right here.  As for Ryan Reynolds, the actor will next be seen in Shawn Levy's FREE GUY, which is expected to hit theaters on December 11, 2020.
