A horror film needs its villain the way a house needs its foundation… No way to exist without it…
NOTHING SACRED directors Dylan Bank and Morgan Pehme know this, and waited until their film was about to wrap before they found the guy they thought perfect for their lead badass: William Sadler.
You all know Sadler: He was the main villain in DIE HARD 2; he played Death in BILL AND TED’S BOGUS JOURNEY (he was even “The Man Who Was Death” in the very first Tales from the Crypt episode); he was a convict in THE SHAWSHANK REDEMPTION, and he just wrapped shooting THE MIST, with SHAWSHANK director Frank Darabont. Apparently, Sadler coveted the role of NOTHING SACRED’s main villain “Chambers” but his MIST schedule impeded him from participating until recently. Hell, at least Bank and Pehme got their man…
Intriguingly, most of the film was completed before Sadler became available. “It turned out great for us from a creative standpoint,” said co-director Bank. “It’s a rarity for filmmakers to see how their movie fits together before shooting some of its most crucial moments. Ultimately, it allowed us to do even more than we had planned.”
NOTHING SACRED tells the story of a pair of twins prophesied to avenge their mother’s death at the hand of their father, Chambers.
Not much is known outside of that, but we’re looking forward to hearing more as the flick nears completion.
