One horror sequel I think we can all agree on looking forward to seeing is EVIL DEAD IV. The only caveat, Sam Raimi and Bruce Campbell MUST be involved!
And after years of taunting us with thoughts of a sequel to the 1992 camp classic ARMY OF DARKNESS, Sam and his brother Ted announced last year that they’re indeed ironing out a script for such a project. When Sam himself and series star Bruce Campbell later confirmed the status of said script, we all threw a f*ckin’ party!
Well, it appears Ted Raimi recently caught up the fine folks at MovieWeb and discussed a little bit about the prospect of a 4th EVIL DEAD movie, as well as fairly recently announced follow up to Bruce Campbell’s MY NAME IS BRUCE, the awesomely titled BRUCE VS. FRANKENSTEIN. Scroll below to see what the dude had to say!
When directly asked if he ever thought an EVIL DEAD IV would get made, Ted responded:
“Well it might happen … but then again … it might not happen.”
Damn Ted, why you gotta be such a parade pisser?
He continues:
“You know, it’s really Sam’s project, it’s not my project so I certainly don’t want to speak for him but I hope it does go through. I know a lot of fans would really love to see it. So that’s a big deal for them.”
Hell yeah it’s a big deal to us fans. Hopefully Sam will recognize it as such and deliver us what we all truly want…i.e. Ash chain-sawing the shite of deadite zombie ass!
Speaking of Ash, some of you may recall Ted Raimi acting alongside Bruce Campbell in the 2007 camp-fest MY NAME IS BRUCE. Back in January, we reported on the possible follow up project known as BRUCE VS. FRANKENSTEIN, remember that? Well, when confirming his involvement in the project and discussing whether the name change from MY NAME IS STILL BRUCE to BRUCE VS. FRANKENSTEIN would hold, Raimi enigmatically replied:
“Yes and no. I don’t want to say it is My Name Is Bruce 2 but it is a movie with Bruce Campbell in it. Maybe, it might be…Am I being very clear? No? Good I’m glad!
And there ya have it folks, more teasing.
BRUCE VS. FRANKENSTEIN looks to land in theaters sometime in 2011, with Campbell directing.
If all goes well, we’ll be seeing EVIL DEAD IV sometime in 2012.
