I’m really prone to hyperbole, so it’s a real effort to stave off calling Andy Samberg one of the funniest guys in the world right now. To be honest, saying that would be ridiculous after only a handful of skits, but the guy is a real talent and he’s definitely one for the future. His latest career move is to join the CG comedy project SPACE CHIMPS for Vanguard Animation and 20th Century Fox.
Samberg is to play Ham III, the grandsone of the first chimp shot into space. Seeking to capitalise on the Ham family name (erm… okay…) a senator recruits Ham III to travel through a black hole to a planet where he and a couple of pals help rid the aliens of an evil leader. Stanley Tucci will play the senator, with Jeff Daniels as the evil leader. Kenan Thompson and Patrick Warburton round out the cast. Samberg is the bomb, but I can’t think of a film that featured Kenan Thompson that I liked.
