Nearly thirty years after its release, Speed remains an action classic. Starring Sandra Bullock and Keanu Reeves, the film revolved around a bus rigged to explode if its speed falls below 50 miles per hour. It was a major critical and commercial success… and you know what that means — sequel. Keanu Reeves wisely stayed away, but Sandra Bullock returned for Speed 2: Cruise Control alongside Jason Patric, a choice she very much regrets.
Speed 2: Cruise Control involved Sandra Bullock and Jason Patric going on a Caribbean vacation on a luxury cruise ship, only to have the ship hijacked and set on a collision course with an oil tanker. While speaking with TooFab to promote The Lost City, Sandra Bullock said that the Speed sequel is something she’s still embarrassed by.
I have one [that] no one came around to and I’m still embarrassed I was in. It’s called ‘Speed 2.’ I’ve been very vocal about it. Makes no sense. Slow boat. Slowly going towards an island.

Audiences seemed to agree as Speed 2: Cruise Control was a box-office bomb that was savaged by critics, but it turns out that Sandra Bullock’s Lost City co-star Daniel Radcliffe was a big fan of the movie. “That’s one I wished I hadn’t done and no fans came around that I know of, except for you… Him and the other four 12-year-olds who were watching the slow boat going towards the tiny island.” While I certainly enjoy Speed, I’ve never gotten around to watching the sequel, so I’ll leave it up to you: Is Speed: Cruise Control really as bad as its reputation suggests?

Brilliant, but reclusive author Loretta Sage (Sandra Bullock) has spent her career writing about exotic places in her popular romance-adventure novels featuring handsome cover model Alan (Channing Tatum), who has dedicated his life to embodying the hero character, “Dash.” While on tour promoting her new book with Alan, Loretta is kidnapped by an eccentric billionaire (Daniel Radcliffe) who hopes that she can lead him to the ancient lost city’s treasure from her latest story. Wanting to prove that he can be a hero in real life and not just on the pages of her books, Alan sets off to rescue her. Thrust into an epic jungle adventure, the unlikely pair will need to work together to survive the elements and find the ancient treasure before it’s lost forever.
The Lost City will hit theaters on March 25th.
