Scanners sets a date

Mark down your calenders kiddies: October 17… 2008 – that’s when the remake of SCANNERS explodes onto screens, according to Box Office Mojo.

I hope director Darren Lynn Bousman is aware of this – but chances are he’s reading about it at the same time the rest of us are, as is the way studios do things. Of course, this date is not set in stone – a lot can change in a year, especially with a strike looming in the summer, and Bousman still busy at work with his REPO! THE GENETIC OPERA…

David Goyer is writing the screenplay for the flick (read some of his thoughts HERE), at least at the moment. As the guy’s got about 348 other screenplays on his platter, I’m sure a wheelbarrow of scribes will be, or already have been, rolled in to do extra passes…

It will be interesting to see, if all goes according to plan, Bousman and SCANNERS go head to head with his old franchise when they face off against David Hackl’s SAW V, which presumably will be released the following weekend.
