Scooby-Doo! Where are you?!
Cue the theme song! Some of the properties that had been mistreated by Warner Bros. in the past are getting some new revitalization. Earlier this week, the trailer for the previously shelved Coyote vs. Acme was released, which parodies the drama with the studio as Acme making the executive decision to suppress the film’s public exposure. Warner Bros. also previously shelved a nearly-completed Scooby-Doo animated film titled Scoob! Holiday Haunt back in 2022, and recently, Netflix announced a live-action Scooby-Doo prequel where the first bit of casting news was Ghostbusters: Afterlife and Ghostbusters: Frozen Empire star Mckenna Grace donning the red hair and purple outfit to play Daphne.

Ruh roh! Netflix has now released a new peek at their prequel, Scooby-Doo: Origins, as the production kicks off in Atlanta. The cast list includes Mckenna Grace as “Daphne Blake,” Tanner Hagen as “Shaggy Rogers,” Abby Ryder Fortson as “Velma Dinkley,” Maxwell Jenkins as “Fred Jones” and Paul Walter Hauser. The logline reads, “A modern reimagining of the iconic mystery-solving group of teens and their very special dog. During their final summer at camp, old friends Shaggy and Daphne get embroiled in a haunting mystery surrounding a lonely lost Great Dane puppy that may have been a witness to a supernatural murder. Together with the pragmatic and scientific townie, Velma, and the strange, but ever so handsome new kid, Freddy, they set out to solve the case that is pulling each of them into a creepy nightmare that threatens to expose all of their secrets.” Netflix has commemorated the start of filming with a preview picture.
