Scott Pilgrim Takes Off: The League of Evil Exes isn’t done with you as the trailer for new Netflix anime adaptation drops

Ladies and gentlemen, please welcome back to the stage, Sex Bob-omb! Scott Pilgrim vs. The World was not able to beat The Expendables or Eat, Pray, Love when all three opened the same day at the box office back in 2010, but the off-beat comedy from Edgar Wright has developed a cult following ever since. Never fear, vegans! Netflix has just premiered its first teaser at the anime adaptation series, Scott Pilgrim Takes Off, which will be reuniting the entire cast of the film, plus has Edgar Wright on as executive producer. The series will have a total of eight episodes and is set to premiere on the streaming service this fall.

The official synopsis from Netflix reads,
Scott Pilgrim meets the girl of his dreams, Ramona Flowers, but learns he must defeat her seven evil exes in order to date her. Then things get even more complicated. Based on the graphic novels by Bryan Lee O’Malley.

Although Edgar Wright will not be heading up the show, he expresses his excitement to continue the property, “I knew that a live action sequel was unlikely, but I would usually defer by suggesting that perhaps an anime adaptation was an interesting way to go. And then, lo and behold, one day Netflix got in touch to ask about this exact idea. But even better, our brilliant creator Bryan Lee O’Malley had an idea that was way more adventurous than just a straight adaptation of the original books.”

The returning Scott Pilgrim cast that will be lending their voices to embody their characters once again includes Michael Cera, Mary Elizabeth Winstead, Satya Bhabha, Kieran Culkin, Chris Evans, Anna Kendrick, Brie Larson, Alison Pill, Aubrey Plaza, Brandon Routh, Jason Schwartzman, Johnny Simmons, Mark Webber, Mae Whitman, and Ellen Wong.

The series’ writers and showrunners will be the executive producers Bryan Lee O’Malley and BenDavid Grabinski. Joining them as executive producers is Marc Platt of Marc Platt Productions, Jared LeBoff also of Marc Platt Productions, Adam Siegel also represents Marc Platt Productions; Michael Bacall; Edgar Wright representing Complete Fiction, Nira Park also of Complete Fiction; as well as Eunyoung Choi of Science SARU. Science SARU is the animation studio behind the project. The studio is known for DEVILMAN crybaby, Keep Your Hands Off Eizouken!, The Heike Story, and Inu-Oh.

Providing the music for the series with original songs will be Anamanaguchi (Scott Pilgrim vs. the World: The Game); Score by Anamanaguchi (Scott Pilgrim vs. the World: The Game) and Joseph Trapanese (Straight Outta Compton).

Scott Pilgrim Takes Off is set to clash at Demonhead on November 17.
