An unlikely – but impressive – cast for a grindhouse movie called MACHETE has gotten even more impressive, if we’re to believe Variety that is. The trade is reporting that, in addition to Robert De Niro, Michelle Rodriguez, Lindsay Lohan, and Cheech Marin (and, of course, Danny Trejo), the Robert Rodriguez flick has added these names: Don Johnson, Jeff Fahey, Jessica Alba and Steven Seagal!
I love this movie, I swear to God, and it hasn’t even become a reality yet. All of those people are cool in their own right, but the kicker is, of course, Steven Seagal. While it isn’t exactly shocking that Rodriguez would want to include the ponytailed one in a film of his (after all, Robert and his buddy QT love resurrecting icons of the past), it’s just too sweet to learn that the man will be in a major motion picture again. I just hope that there’s a scene between him and De Niro! But hell, I’ll watch Seagal act opposite any of those people…
There’s no start date for MACHETE, that I know of, but you’d better believe we’ll keep you in the loop on this ballsy project as it moves forward…
