Sean Bean joins The Wachowskis’ Jupiter Ascending

Looks like the next set of high profile directors that get to kill off a Sean Bean character will be The Wachowskis!

Bean will join the $200 million budgeted JUPITER ASCENDING in a role that is being described as Han Solo-esque. Bean would join the already cast Channing Tatum, Mila Kunis, and Eddie Redmayne in the large scale film that The Wachowskis and Warner Bros are hoping will begin a new franchise.

Plot: A Russian immigrant (Mila Kunis) who, despite her lowly occupation of toilet cleaner, possesses the same perfect genetic makeup as the Queen of the Universe and is therefore a threat to her otherwise immortal rule. With this very threat needing to be extinguished, a bounty hunter (Channing Tatum) is assigned to find and kill off the oblivious woman… but they, naturally, fall in love and make a run for freedom.

The film has a very solid core of actors that could give this movie a much better chance than CLOUD ATLAS received. Maybe Warner Bros saw the ambition at play in that film and it restored faith in the siblings filmmaking credibility. I for one think that Sean Bean would have made a kick ass Han Solo in a real STAR WARS movie, but I will take him in this role as well.

JUPITER ASCENDING is looking to film this year for a 2014 release.
