New extended clip released for Valerian and the City of a Thousand Planets

Last Updated on August 5, 2021

For such a big film, from such a revered director, Luc Besson's passion project VALERIAN AND THE CITY OF A THOUSAND PLANETS has sort of flown under the radar for the most part. Not that there hasn't been any buzz, but it does seem like it's been sort of buried under news about upcoming comic-book movies, APES remakes, and troubled STAR WARS productions.

Well, today, with the release a little under a month away, the studio has released an extended clip of the film. Let's take a look, shall we:

Not much we haven't seen from the previous trailers, but it's still interesting to see it in context, I suppose. Either way, I'm l'm a bit iffy on the film itself, as it seems a bit derivative of other sci-fi films (and Besson's own FIFTH ELEMENT.) However, I can't deny that shit is beautiful as hell, so hopefully the script doesn't let the visuals down.

I guess we'll see when VALERIAN AND THE CITY OF A THOUSAND PLANETS flies into theaters July 21st, 2017.
