Second Sight delays limited edition box set of Romero’s Dawn of the Dead

Last Updated on July 30, 2021

Earlier this year, UK distributor Second Sight announced that they would be giving the George A. Romero classic DAWN OF THE DEAD a limited edition Blu-ray and 4K Ultra HD box set releases on October 26th. Unfortunately, fans who have been anxiously waiting for that date (and their box set) to arrive will have to wait a few weeks longer. Second Sight took to Twitter to announce that the release has been pushed back to November 16th, because "due to current circumstances, manufacturing and packing are going to take longer than expected." At least the wait has only been extended three weeks.

Here's the details on the 4K Ultra HD box set:

‘When there’s no more room in hell, the dead will walk the earth.’

With the U.S. in the grip of a zombie apocalypse, four desperate survivors find refuge in a shopping mall. But the flesh-eating hordes, still possessed by an instinctive desire to consume, are drawn to the same destination. What follows is a nail-biting fight for survival.

George A Romero’s Dawn of the Dead remains one of the greatest horror films ever made, often imitated but never equalled, and is now presented in a brand new restoration.

The Blu-ray edition contains the same extras. However, 4K Ultra HD discs are Region Free, while the Blu-ray discs are Region B. So if you're outside of that region, you'll need a Region Free player to watch the Blu-rays discs.

Since I don't have the ability to play 4K Ultra HD discs and don't have a Region Free Blu-ray player, I'm going to have to miss out on this release myself, but it sounds awesome.

The Blu-ray set can be pre-ordered HERE. In the UK, you can get the 4K Ultra HD set at THIS LINK. If you're in the US, use THIS LINK.
