Second Sight shares details on limited edition of Romero’s Dawn of the Dead

UK distributor Second Sight Films is planning to bring a limited edition release of George A. Romero's classic DAWN OF THE DEAD to Blu-ray and 4K UHD on October 26th, and they have revealed that this release is going to be packed with cool special features.

Weighing in at "just over a kilo" (or over two pounds), this DAWN OF THE DEAD package contains: 

DISC 1: The theatrical cut – New 4K scan and restoration of the original camera negative – Commentary by George A. Romero, Tom Savini, Christine Forrest – NEW commentary by Travis Crawford

DISC 2: The extended cut – Produced using 4K scan of theatrical cut camera negative and 4K scan of extended cut interpositive – Commentary by Richard P. Rubinstein 

DISC 3: The Argento cut – produced using 4K scan of theatrical cut camera negative and 4K scan of Argento cut interpositive – Commentary by Ken Foree, Scott Reiniger, Gaylen Ross, David Emge

The special features not noted as being new have been around for a while, but I am very interested to see those new featurettes, and it's awesome that the novelization and a special hardback book are being included in the package.

The release will be available for pre-order as soon as Second Sight can figure out the production schedule, which is difficult to ascertain during the current lockdown. The company had originally intended to start taking pre-orders on March 27th. The Blu-ray discs will be region locked, Region B, but the UHD discs do not have region coding.

Second Sight is also planning a new release of Romero's MARTIN, and I'm excited to hear what special features that will have.
