We haven't heard much from Seth Rogen and Evan Goldberg about their Preacher TV series since AMC officially ordered a pilot for the small screen adaptation of the Garth Ennis and Steven Dillon comic. But yesterday Rogen tweeted a picture of a stack of movies he's been watching to inspire him while working on the project.

Unsurprisingly, Rogen has been checking out a bunch of Westerns for Preacher, and I'm glad to see he's also been watching extremely violent (but also excellent) non-Westerns like THE RAID, I SAW THE DEVIL and Quentin Tarantino's KILL BILL movies.

Synopsis for the series from AMC:

Preacher follows Reverend Jesse Custer, a tough Texas preacher who has lost his faith, has learned that God has left Heaven and abandoned His responsibilities. He finds himself the only person capable of tracking God down, demanding answers, and making Him answer for His dereliction of duty. Accompanying Jesse on his journey is his former girlfriend and a friendly vampire who seems to prefer a pint in the pub to the blood of the innocent. On his tail is one of the most iconic bad guys in print – an immortal, unstoppable killing machine named the Saint of Killers – a western lone gunman archetype whose sole purpose is to hunt and kill Jesse.

Both Seth Rogen and Evan Goldberg are huge fans of the comics, and while I am slightly afraid it won't live up to my expectations, I'm feeling pretty confident that Rogen and Goldberg won't f*ck up one of my favorite comics of all time.

Production on the Preacher pilot will begin this summer for series consideration in 2016.
