Shadecraft: Expanse and Lucifer writers team for comic book adaptation

Netflix knows a great concept when they see it, and that's why they've preemptively scooped up Shadecraft, an upcoming comic book from Image Comics created by Lucifer showrunner Joe Henderson and artist Lee Garbett. Henderson will co-write the pilot with Georgia Lee, a writer-producer on sci-fi shows The Expanse and The 100. The duo will also executive produce, with Garbett serving as producer.

The first issue of Shadecraft is set to hit comic book retailers on March 31. Per ImageComics.com, Zadie Lu is afraid of her own shadow. She’s a teenager, so she REALLY should have grown out of it by now, right? But something weird is happening in her small town. Zadie could swear the shadows are coming to life. Watching her. Trying to KILL her. But how do you fight something you can’t even touch? And how does all of this tie into her FAMILY, of all things?

If that creative team for Shadecraft sounds familiar it's because Henderson and Garbett are also responsible for the Eisner-nominated Skyward, an outrageously cool comic book series taking place in a future with no gravity. Here's the official synopsis: One day, gravity on earth suddenly became a fraction of what it is now. Twenty years later, humanity has adapted to its new low-gravity reality. And to Willa Fowler, a woman born just after G-day, it's…well, it's pretty awesome, actually. You can fly through the air! I mean, sure, you can also die if you jump too high. So you just don't jump too high. And maybe don't stumble into a dangerous plan to bring gravity back that could get you killed. An adaptation of Skyward is currently in development over at Sony.

Henderson is currently the co-showrunner of Netflix’s Lucifer, which is in the midst of wrapping production for its sixth and final season. While Luci-fans will no doubt miss the antics of Lucifer Morningstar (Tom Ellis) and his partner Chloe Decker (Lauren German), they've now got Shadecraft to look forward to, which sounds like it could be exactly what the Devil ordered for a good time.
