The latest trailer for Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings concluded with a bit of a surprise for fans. After making his way into an underground fight tournament, Shang-Chi (Simu Liu) witnesses a fight between the Abomination (Tim Roth) and Wong (Benedict Wong), or at least, that's what we've all assumed.

Well, if there was any doubt lingering in your mind, consider it gone. Marvel Studios president Kevin Feige confirmed to Rotten Tomatoes that the fight between Abomination and Wong…is indeed a fight between Abomination and Wong.

Yes, we just recently released the final trailer for Shang-Chi. Some fans said, ‘This looks like a character they hadn’t seen in many years named The Abomination, fighting a character that looks like Wong. And I can say that the reason it looks like that is because that is Abomination fighting Wong.

Although Wong has appeared in several Marvel Cinematic Universe movies over the past few years, the Abomination hasn't been seen since The Incredible Hulk more than ten years ago. For Feige, getting to bring back characters who haven't been utilized in some time in one of the joys of the job. "[It’s] a fun thing to have a character that we haven’t had on screen in over a decade show up again in the MCU," Feige said. "And to see fans on that little tag of the trailer recognize that and embrace that is great fun." In addition to Shang-Chi, the Abomination will also be featured in Marvel's upcoming She-Hulk series for Disney+, with Tim Roth once again playing the role.

Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings stars Simu Liu as Shang-Chi, a skilled martial artist who was trained at a young age to be an assassin by his father Wenwu, only to depart to live a normal life in San Francisco. However, he must confront the past he thought he had left behind when he's drawn back into the web of the mysterious Ten Rings organization. In addition to Simu Liu, Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings also stars Tony Leung as Wenwu, Awkwafina as Shang-Chi’s friend Katy, and Michelle Yeoh as Jiang Nan. Destin Daniel Cretton directed the film and co-wrote the script with Andrew Lanham and David Callaham. Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings will hit theaters on September 3, 2021.
