Sharktopus has a daddy! And his name is Eric Roberts!

If you thought it was impossible for something called SHARKTOPUS to become any more insane than it already is, you were wrong, because Eric Roberts has just joined the cast.

Roberts will play a scientist who develops a secret military weapon — a hybrid shark/octopus that can be controlled by electrical implants. But when the controls break down, the monster goes on a killing rampage at the resort beaches of Mexico.

I’m a big time Eric Roberts fan, so this is just wonderful news. Why am I this way? Maybe because the man can just straight-up bring the crazy. He and SHARKTOPUS were made for each other.

SHARKTOPUS is produced by Roger Corman and Julie Corman and directed by Declan O’Brien (WRONG TURN 3). It will premiere on SyFy later this year.

And if you want to see what Roberts is truly capable of, watch this quick clip from THE POPE OF GREENWICH VILLAGE, which is a must for Roberts fans.
