Shaun of the Dead (2004) Edgar Wright, Simon Pegg – Show Me the Sequel!

Last Updated on August 5, 2021

Simon Pegg once said that he had "jokingly" written a treatment for a sequel to the 2004 zombie romantic comedy Shaun of the Dead (watch or own it HERE) that would have been called From Dusk Till Shaun, because Shaun of the Dead director Edgar Wright "thought it would be funny to do the film again, but with vampires". Although the From Dusk Till Shaun idea got an Easter egg nod in Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse, Pegg and Wright decided not to go through with the sequel… and in the new episode of our video series Show Me the Sequel, embedded above, we try to show them the error of their ways and convince them to give us a Shaun sequel after all!

The Show Me the Sequel series is all about

genre films that either never got sequels and we feel it's long overdue, fine movies that did get sequels but they were so lackluster that going back to square one is a must, or… flicks that DO have sequels but hey, we want freaking MORE of them! On top of that, we put our pitch for what said sequel should be about!

Show Me the Sequel is written and narrated by Pat Q, Edited by Edward Clark, Produced by John Fallon, and Berge Garabedian is the Executive Producer.

Directed by Wright from a screenplay he and Pegg wrote together, Shaun of the Dead has the following synopsis:

Shaun is a 30-something loser with a dull, easy existence. When he's not working at the electronics store, he lives with his slovenly best friend, Ed, in a small flat on the outskirts of London. The only unpredictable element in his life is his girlfriend, Liz, who wishes desperately for Shaun to grow up and be a man. When the town is inexplicably overrun with zombies, Shaun must rise to the occasion and protect both Liz and his mother.

Pegg plays Shaun, and was joined in the cast by Nick Frost, Kate Ashfield, and Penelope Wilton.
