Shazam’s Zachary Levi declares what Star Wars character he’d love to play

Zachary Levi is one cool nerd.

The lovable actor enchanted audiences with his turn as computer-whiz-turned-spy Chuck Bartowski in the criminally underrated TV series Chuck. He then lent his dulcet tones to the character of Flynn Rider in the Disney classic TANGLED. Levi even made cameos as Fandral in THOR: THE DARK WORLD and THOR: RAGNAROK. Oh and he also headlined a little DC indie film called SHAZAM! earlier this year. Maybe you've heard of it? Word has it there's a sequel in the works.

In addition to starring in some incredibly geek-tastic roles over the last ten years, Levi has also quite the social media presence on Twitter where his unabashedly love of comics shines bright. He's constantly interacting with fans. It also appears as though Zachary Levi is quite the fan of STAR WARS and as such isn't opposed to the idea of appearing in a future film. In fact when asked what character he'd love to play if given the chance, Levi didn't hesitate:

Now for those of you currently thinking, "Who in the name of Bespin is Dash Rendar?" allow me to illuminate you. Dash Rendar is essentially an ersatz Han Solo first introduced in the Steve Perry novel Shadows of the Empire. Set between the events of THE EMPIRE STRIKES BACK and RETURN OF THE JEDI, Shadows of the Empire has Rendar (a veteran of the Battle of Hoth) tracking down Boba Fett's ship Slave I. Along with Leia, Chewbacca, Lando, and Luke, Dash tries to liberate Han from the bounty hunter and hijinks ensue.

While Levi's choice is certainly provocative, it's almost guaranteed never to happen. THE RISE OF SKYWALKER heralded an end (supposedly) to the Skywalker Saga so I don't see how Rendar's character would exactly fit in. Plus if a live-action version of Shadows of the Empire ever occurs, many of our beloved characters would have to be recast. An animated adaptation would work better. However, the best possible scenario where Dash Rendar could show up would be in one of Disney+'s shows, either The Mandalorian or perhaps the Cassian Andor series.

Whether or not Levi ever appears in a STAR WARS film or television show is up for debate, but in the meantime he's got plenty of other things to focus on. He's got Neil Buckland's PRISONER 760 due out next year then a sequel to SHAZAM! on April 1, 2022.
