“Shit gets real” says Maisie Williams of Game of Thrones’ seventh season

Maisie Williams Game of Thrones HBO

Over the course of six seasons HBO's Game of Thrones has presented us with plenty of events in which it could be argued that "shit got real," but according to Maisie Williams, who plays Arya, we haven't seen anything yet. Williams recently finished reading the scripts for the upcoming seventh season of Game of Thrones and took to Twitter to enthusiastically tease us her newfound knowledge.

With Game of Thrones coming to an end after two more seasons, and shortened seasons at that, it's probably safe to say that the power struggle over the seven kingdoms of Westeros will only get bigger and crazier, but I can't even begin to imagine what David Benioff and D.B. Weiss have in store for us. Kit Harington also chimed in with his thoughts on the upcoming season while speaking with THR, although at the time they spoke with him, he hadn't yet been given his scripts.

It's important to stress at this point that I haven't had any scripts, so this is all guesswork for me. I think it's going to get very bleak before if there is a happy ending. If there's any sort of win or heroic moment for Jon and everyone else. I think it's going to get very dark before it gets better. I think what we might see this season is those White Walkers and that Army of the Dead really come into force. So that's going to be exciting to see. I don't know what it means. I think with the whole "winter is finally here" business, it means everyone is going to have a really bad time.

Production on season seven of Game of Thrones will be delayed until later in the year to accommodate a colder environment, which in turn will push the premiere back until the summer of 2017.
