We already know about Neill Blomkamp’s desire to make a new ALIEN movie for Fox, so much so that he has gone to the great lengths of creating some very detailed concept art for the unofficial film. Just yesterday, we learned that this whole thing might be more than just some fancy art, as Blomkamp said that the film "may happen" at some point.
Okay, so we know the DISTRICT 9 director really wants to make this movie, but what does Sigourney Weaver think of all this? Coming Soon caught up to the ALIEN franchise star, who says, “He kept sending me these brilliant designs and ideas and everything. We’ll see what happens.” She continued with, “It’s not that so much is that we just left it at such a creepy place, sort of stranded above Earth. I was quite happy to move onto other things and I didn’t want to go to Earth. I didn’t want to manufacture a sequel and I felt like we were starting to do that. If something happens from this, it would be very organic and very original, and because of that, it would make me want to do it. If it was someone as talented as Neill, I’d certainly listen.”
If Blomkamp is right about Fox wanting to make another ALIEN movie, and Sigourney Weaver is willing to return, I can’t imagine this movie not being made. All the pieces are there and Blomkamp has already proven with his concept art that he has a unique vision for the franchise, which is exactly what it needs. What once sounded like it was too good to be true might soon become a reality.
