Sisterly trio of Hocus Pocus say they’re interested in conjuring a sequel

Hocus Pocus, sequel, Disney+, Bette Midler, Sarah Jessica Parker, Kathy Najimy

Happy Hallo … wait a minute. What day is this?  Good grief. Can someone please explain to me why this wasn't announced yesterday? Allow me to start over.

Double, double toil and trouble; Fire burn, and caldron bubble. The sisters three interest in returning for more HOCUS POCUS is less than subtle.

Last week is was announced that WORKAHOLICS writer and producer Jen D'Angelo has been tapped to write the script for HOCUS POCUS 2, which is currently in the works for Disney's exclusive streaming service, Disney+. However, as a part of her penning a sequel to director Kenny Ortega's 1993 family-friendly feature, she was also assigned the task of bringing back original cast members Bette Midler, Sarah Jessica Parker, and Kathy Najimy for more wondrous witchcraft. At the time that the project was announced, all three ladies had yet to join the effort, though thanks to a recent interview with Bette Midler courtesy of Entertainment Tonight, we've learned that she and Najimy are ready to hop on their broomsticks and fly once more!

“Oh my goodness me. Oh, I hope they get to me before I’m a corpse,” said Midler about the opportunity to play Winifred Sanderson for the sequel. “We wanna fly again. I hope Disney+ is a big success and I hope we get to do it, because [Winifred] is of course one of my favorite characters…. I can’t wait to read the script. We’re gonna see what happens.” she added.

“I heard about it online the same time as [everyone else]. But here’s the honest answer: Sarah and Bette and I all have a million projects and things that we’re into, so I don’t know if they’re gonna offer us [roles]. I don’t know if the worlds are going to collide so that we could all three do it at the same time,” Najimy said. “But I’m happy that it’s happening, because the fans are really rabid and they really want it,” she added. “[And] if we’re not all available to star in it, I think it would be so great to do a cameo. I think that’d be really fun.”

To throw another Eye of Newt into the cauldron, Sarah Jessica Parker, who played Sarah, the third Sanderson sister, also confirmed her interest in returning to Salem, Massachusetts in a recent Instagram post.

"We have all said yes. Now we wait," said an enthusiastic Parker, whose portrayal of the bubbly witch Sarah has since become the stuff of legend.

As a tried-and-true fan of the original, I'm crossing all of my fingers and toes for all three actresses to return for a sequel to HOCUS POCUS. And yes, I know that I'm 38-years-old, but I'm still a kid at heart in many ways. Plus, you just know that all three ladies would pour everything they've got into another performance as the sinister Sanderson sisters of Salem. Hmm, perhaps I can devise a spell that will make their participation possible. While I'm researching that, why don't you let us know if you'd like to Midler, Parker, and Najimy reprise their HOCUS POCUS roles in the comments section down below?
