The 2009 Sitges Film Festival just got a little cooler. (Check out an earlier article on its coolness right HERE.) A press release sent to us reveals that the fest will be paying special tribute to the 3D revolution, and has chosen four unique flicks to showcase the format.

From the release: The revolution that three dimensional cinema has experienced has allowed the industry to begin to democratize this technique, making it more financially accessible, while beginning to captivate audiences with its spectacular approach.

For the film industry, the three dimensional format has a clear objective: to get audiences back to theaters offering them a unique show. While we wait to see if it really manages to do so, Sitges has the honor of presenting four marvelous fantasy genre films which will have to be seen with glasses.

Henry Selick’s CORALINE, TOY STORY (the brand new 3D version that just hit theaters), THE HOLE (Joe Dante’s much-anticipated 3D horror effort) are all there, all of course worth checking out…

The fourth film is NIGHT OF THE LIVING DEAD. No, not the awful 3D NOTLD from years ago, and not the upcoming NOTLD: ORIGINS. This is the 1968 George Romero classic I’m talking about, and f*ck if I’m not curious about that.

Our resident lucky bastard John “The Arrow” Fallon will be at the fest, reviewing films for the site, pimping his own flicks RECON 2023 and OLD NUMBER 7, and of course, serenading lovely senoritas. Read more about what the man’s got planned right HERE. The festival runs until OCTOBER 12th.
