Snowpiercer season 4 won’t air on TNT; final season and spinoffs to be shopped elsewhere

The fourth and final season of Snowpiercer was set to debut on TNT, but that debut has been scrapped. Deadline has reported that Warner Bros. Discovery has axed Snowpiercer season 4, which is believed to be part of the tax write-offs for content at the company.

We can confirm that TNT will not air season four of Snowpiercer,” a Warner Bros. Discovery spokesperson said in a statement. “This was a difficult decision, but our admiration for the talented writers, actors and crew who brought Snowpiercer’s extraordinary post-apocalyptic world to life remains strong. We have been working collaboratively with the producers since last year to help the series find a new home where fans can continue to enjoy the compelling story and exceptional visual experience. We look forward to working with them on future projects.” Tomorrow Studios, the studio behind Snowpiercer, are in the process of shopping the new season to another home, along with a potential prequel and sequel.

We love Snowpiercer and believe season four completes a story with incredible talent that will entertain viewers while exploring issues of climate change and class warfare,” Tomorrow Studios’ Marty Adelstein, CEO/Partner, and Becky Clements, President/Partner, said in a statement. “We are so passionate about this series that we have acquired the rights to control the franchise. We hope to find the perfect partner shortly and finish a great ride with the final season.Snowpiercer season 4 is just one of many projects cut for tax write-off purposes over at Warner Bros. Discovery, such as the Batgirl movie, but here’s hoping Snowpiercer finds a home and isn’t just left on a shelf somewhere.

Based on the 2013 movie of the same name directed by Bong Joon-ho and the 1982 graphic novel Le Transperceneige by Jacques Lob, Benjamin Legrand, and Jean-Marc Rochette, Snowpiercer deals with class warfare, social injustice, and survival as it follows the passengers of the Snowpiercer, a gigantic, perpetually moving train that circles the globe carrying the remnants of humanity seven years after the world becomes a frozen wasteland. The series stars Daveed Diggs, Jennifer Connelly, Mickey Sumner, Iddo Goldberg, Alison Wright, Sean Bean, and more. Snowpiercer season 4 features a few new additions to the series, including Clark Gregg and Michael Aronov.
