Reelz Channel has a very cool and somewhat telling interview with director Zack Snyder. For those of y’all living on another planet, Snyder has just become Hollywood’s new “It” director, and his first post-300 film is an adaptation of the Bible of graphic novels, WATCHMEN.
Some interesting tidbits are:
-he admits that Tom Cruise’s interest (in the role of Ozymandias) wasn’t just rumor, but that they actually had conversations about the project. Cruise is NOT going to be in it however…
-The cast will be A-list, and he basically says that Gerard Butler has a role.
-The current draft of the screenplay is about 150 pages without the Tales of the Black Freighter, although that will figure into the film as well, making the running-time approx. 3 hours long in his estimation (don’t hate me, but I’ve never read the graphic novel so I don’t know much about this Black Freighter business, although I know some people aren’t digging on its inclusion).
-He’s adamant about it being rated R.
-He swears the movie will be so mind-bogglingly awesome that you’ll weep at its conclusion like a 14-year old girl at the end of TITANIC.
