Some bewitching poster art from Sam Raimi’s Oz the Great and Powerful

JoBloJoBlo

Just in time for Halloween (and, let me say Happy Halloween to all the Schmoes!), we have a new poster from Sam Raimi’s upcoming OZ THE GREAT AND POWERFUL, featuring the infamous Wicked Witch of the West/Elanora, who will be portrayed by none other than Rachel Weisz.  It’s a vibrant, mystical-looking image, which lends itself well to the world of Oz.

Spooktacular!:

Pretty cool, eh?  Although this project is more ALICE IN WONDERLAND than EVIL DEAD, I think it has the potential to be really good, especially with Raimi in the mix.  Add in the sharp cast of James Franco, Mila Kunis, Zach Braff, and Michelle Williams and it definitely has the makings of a fun adventure.  Personally, I’m not holding it up to the original WIZARD OF OZ, but allowing it to stand on its own as a prequel.  It’s obvious there will be differences (less singing, more effects) and since it’s not a remake I’m going to remain optimistic.

OZ THE GREAT AND POWERFUL gets swept into theaters on March 8, 2013.
