Sony announces release dates for Ghostbusters and Morbius the Living Vampire

Less than two weeks after revealing that Jason Reitman will be directing a new GHOSTBUSTERS film that will ignore the events of the 2016 reboot and exist in the same continuity as the original GHOSTBUSTERS and its sequel (which were directed by Reitman's father Ivan Reitman), Sony has announced its release date.

We knew from the start that the new GHOSTBUSTERS was aiming for a "summer 2020" release, and now we know the specific day when it will be reaching theatres: July 10, 2020.

Along with the GHOSTBUSTERS date, Sony also announced the release date for the Marvel Comics adaptation MORBIUS THE LIVING VAMPIRE, which is set to star Jared Leto as

Dr. Michael Morbius, a scientist who suffered from a rare blood disease and attempted to cure himself to disastrous results. Instead of being cured, he became afflicted with a condition that was a form of vampirism — the thirst for blood, along with fangs and super strength.

Leto's co-stars will include Adria Arjona and Matt Smith.

Following last year's VENOM, MORBIUS is the second in a series of films that Sony plans to make based on side characters and villains from Spider-Man comics.

Directed by Daniel Espinosa, MORBIUS will arrive in theatres on July 31, 2020.

So Sony is going to get me out to the theatre twice in July of next year.
