Sorry Muggles, but Harry Potter and the Cursed Child won’t be a film trilogy

Is there such a thing as creating too many Harry Potter-related films? Author J. K. Rowling seems to think so, as the creator and writer of the world-renowned Harry Potter book series has cast an “Avada Kedavra” spell on the possibility of HARRY POTTER AND THE CURSED CHILD becoming a film trilogy.

Earlier this morning, Rowling took to her Twitter account as a way of dispelling any Potterhead fantasies or rumors of the latest chapter in her witches and wizardry book series would receive a film adaptation. I know, I know, today has already been hard enough for some. However, you don’t take my word for it. Here, let’s take a look at Rowling’s official tweet so as to let the reality truly sink in:

In its current incarnation, HARRY POTTER AND THE CURSED CHILD is a two-part stage play being performed in London’s West End. The theatrical presentation of the tale also has plans of making its way to the Big Apple, when it arrives at the Lyric Theater in New York City in the Spring of 2018. For now, it doesn’t appear as if Rowling is interested in HARRY POTTER AND THE CURSED CHILD becoming anything more than a quality stage production. You never know, though. After all, look at how much of a success FANTASTIC BEASTS AND WHERE TO FIND THEM turned out to be! That movie went from being nothing at all to surpassing the $800 million mark at the box office to becoming a five-film series!

Oh, and for those of you who’re unaware of what HARRY POTTER AND THE CURSED CHILD actually is, it’s story (penned by Rowling, Jack Thorne, and John Tiffany), takes place 19 years after the epilogue of Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows. It centers on Harry, now an employee at the Ministry of Magic, and his son, Albus, who spends his days attending Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry. Reviews of the book have ranged from readers thinking that it’s a wonderful follow-up tale to those who feel that its existence is entirely unnecessary.
