Screen Daily repots that Spain’s LolaFilms has snapped up the rights to the popular trilogy of books known as THE DARK DOOR, written by David Lozano. Prolific Spanish producer Andres Vicente Gomez will oversee the production, which does not yet have a director.
The first book in the trilogy is called THE TRAVELLER (El Viajero) and sees a 16-year-old Spanish kid called Pascal living in Paris arrive at a Halloween party with friends only to enter the world of the dead through a Dark Door, which is where his adventures begin. The other two books The Evil (El Mal) and Requiem are a continuation of his journeys.
The film will be in English and will take place at Spanish film studios and various locations around Paris. The budget for the first flick is around $16 million US, with the next two films expected to have the same amount to play with. Once the cast and crew come together, we’ll bring the news to your doorstep!
