Spider-Man: Homecoming writers to web-swing in for the sequel

Last Updated on August 2, 2021

As a part of Sony and Marvel's preparations for the sequel to SPIDER-MAN: HOMECOMING, The Hollywood Reporter is saying that screenwriters Chris McKenna and Erik Sommers will be back to pen the follow-up to Tom Holland's first solo venture as the famous wise-cracking wall-crawler.

For the moment, both McKenna and Sommers are said to be in final negotiations to web up a brand-new story featuring Peter Parker's alter ego and his array of friends and family members. It's also being reported that director Jon Watts is in talks to step behind the camera once more for the sequel.

During its release, SPIDER-MAN HOMECOMING was a huge hit with Spidey fans and critics alike. In fact, during the film's time at the box office, the collaborative effort between Sony and Marvel weaved $319 million in domestic dollars and $737 million worldwide into its web of earnings.

By the way, if you haven't seen China's wacky movie posters for SPIDER-MAN: HOMECOMING, I strongly advise you to click here and give yourself a good chuckle. I love the one of Spidey surrounded by playful panda bears, and the one where he's riding a horse is pure gold.

As of the moment, SPIDER-MAN: HOMECOMING 2 is scheduled for a July 5, 2019 release
