Spider-Man: Homecoming’s Tom Holland in talks to join The Current War

Although neither Tom Holland nor Benedict Cumberbatch have shared the screen in a Marvel flick (yet), Alfonso Gomez-Rejon's upcoming tale of battling electrical power titans may team-up two of Marvel's newest heroes as Deadline is reporting that Holland is currently in talks to join Cumberbatch in THE CURRENT WAR.

Starring Benedict Cumberbatch as Thomas Edison and Michael Shannon as George Westinghouse, THE CURRENT WAR will take "place in "the late 1880s and revolves around the two titans and their battle over the supply of electricity. Edison championed the use of a direct current for electric power distribution over an alternating current, which was backed by Westinghouse Electric." Should a deal be reached, Tom Holland would play Samuel Insull, Edison’s right hand man. Also starring in THE CURRENT WAR will be Katherine Waterston as Westinghouse’s wife Marguerite Erskine and Nicholas Hoult as Nikola Tesla, and production is set to get underway by early December.

As for Holland, the young actor has several movies on the horizon such as THE LOST CITY OF Z, which is set for a April 21, 2017 release and stars Charlie Hunnam, Robert Pattinson and Sienna Miller, but by far his biggest project of the year will be SPIDER-MAN: HOMECOMING on July 7, 2017. Thwip.
