Spider-Man writers to give us The Creeps with Universal horror comedy

Spider-Man: Homecoming

SPIDER-MAN: HOMECOMING screenwriters Jonathan Goldstein and John Francis Daley have set up a genre project at Universal – and it doesn't seem to have anything to do with the classic Universal Monsters. Instead, this is something called THE CREEPS.

Goldstein and Daley will be writing and directing the film, as well as producing through their company GoldDay. The project is said to be

a coming-of-age comedic horror.

And that's all that has been revealed so far.

Universal's Executive Vice President of Production Jon Mone and Senior Vice President of Production Jay Polidoro are overseeing THE CREEPS for the studio.

In addition to working on SPIDER-MAN: HOMECOMING, Goldstein and Daley have previously directed the 2015 VACATION film and GAME NIGHT. They also wrote HORRIBLE BOSSES. They're currently attached to direct THE FLASH for DC Films and Warner Bros., but the future of that project is currently uncertain as star Ezra Miller has a darker take on the material than Goldstein and Daley do.

We'll keep you updated as we learn more about THE CREEPS.

The title makes me think of the Full Moon movie THE CREEPS, which cast little people in the roles of the classic monsters. It's a shame this probably isn't a reboot of that property.
