Keanu Reeves and Charlize Theron have gotten to usher in a new era of action thanks to their efforts from both 87Eleven and 87North productions with their respective films, John Wick and Atomic Blonde. Both films aimed to combine the chaos and extended sequences of gunplay action with raw, gritty martial arts in a stylized manner. Additionally, Seth Rogen had dabbled a bit in crossing over into action with Pineapple Express and The Green Hornet with various responses.

It’s recently been reported by industry insider, Daniel Richtman, that Universal is rumored to be making Spy House. Spy House is set to star Keanu Reeves, Charlize Theron and Seth Rogen in a mystery film where the plot involves, “When a group of spies go to a safe house after a job gone wrong, they realize there’s a killer in the house.” Rogen is set to direct with frequent collaborator Evan Goldberg on board as a co-director. Jonathan Levine, whose writing credits include The Wackness, Warm Bodies, The Night Before and the TV series Nine Perfect Strangers, has penned the screenplay for the spy mystery. It is not yet revealed what the tone of the film will predominantly be, but with Levine, Goldberg and Rogen all involved creatively, it can be deduced that there could be an emphasis on comedy.

Meanwhile, Keanu’s John Wick series is currently developing a follow-up for Chapter 4, as well as some spin-offs as Lionsgate chairman Joe Drake recently stated, “On the Wick side we got multiple spin-offs and a Wick Five. We started to work on (it) right when the writer’s strike started and we’ve gotten back to work as soon as it ended.” As for Theron, she will be returning to her newly adopted action series in Fast X – Part 2. The series’ star, Vin Diesel, teased that the sequel is set for April of 2025, but there is no news as to whether the strikes had delayed it at all. Seth. Rogen’s latest outing was this year’s animated action comedy Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Mutant Mayhem, which can currently be streamed on Paramount+.
