The 2010 vampire indie STAKE LAND might be making an unlikely transition to the small screen. The Wrap reports Jim Mickle and his co-writer Nick Damici are in talks to explore the world of the bloodsucking post-apocalypse via a television series.

The show would be set seven years after the end of STAKE LAND. Damici had this to say about what could be in store:

“They all mutated, there’s tons of different vamps,” Damici explained. “I said to Greg, the only thing I’ll need — I’ll write my ass off — the only thing is I’ve got to have enough of a budget to have flying vamps. It spread to animals, so we’ve got vamp dogs and a vamp bear.”

Err, okay. Guess I’m down with vampire bears…

Damici and Mickle are also developing a series based on Joe Lansdale’s long-running private investigator series “Hap and Leonard,” which could be headed to the Sundance Channel. The filmmaking duo recently teamed up with the author on an adaptation of his film COLD IN JULY, which premiered at the Sundance Film Festival earlier in the year.
