Seth Rogen’s Stallone vs Schwarzenegger rant reignites the classic debate, but who really is better?

Last Updated on June 29, 2026

Everyone’s entitled to their opinion, but recently Seth Rogen stepped in it a bit when he appeared on Ike Barinholtz’s Funny You Ask podcast, where he and the host threw a little shade at Sylvester Stallone (perhaps our patron saint here at JoBlo). The two argued that Stallone has only made something like four good movies, with Rogen listing Demolition Man as his best ever. But things got really spicy when Rogen said, “I don’t give a shit about any Rocky movies because they’re f**kin’ sports movies.”

Check out the clip here:

In the same clip, the two made the case for Arnold Schwarzenegger being far superior, thanks to movies like Terminator 2: Judgment DayTrue Lies, and Predator, with Barinholtz saying Predator alone is better than anything Sly has ever made (FALSE – Predator is great, but Rocky and First Blood destroy it).

Now, the two can absolutely have their opinions, but if we’re stacking filmographies against each other, I think Sly’s destroys both Rogen’s and Barinholtz’s combined (just sayin’). Again, they’re allowed to talk smack if they want to. Rogen’s dismissal of the Rocky series as “f**kin’ sports movies” is like me calling The Shawshank Redemption just a prison movie or The Godfather just a gangster movie. The best films transcend their genres, which Rocky certainly does.

But what about the Stallone vs. Schwarzenegger debate? At the height of their fame, the two famously feuded, especially as their box office fortunes went back and forth over the better part of a decade. If one of them hit a rough patch, the other inevitably seemed to be at the top of his game. They had a fierce rivalry and clearly had fun with it, even poking fun at each other in their movies. Of course, the two became good friends in later years, with Schwarzenegger appearing in three Expendables movies as well as Escape Plan with Sly, and neither has ever been caught saying a bad word about the other. I do wonder if Sly ever forgave Schwarzenegger for fooling him into starring in Stop, or My Mom Will Shoot, though.

As for who has the better movies, that’s a tough one. Yes, Schwarzenegger has starred in some of the greatest sci-fi and action movies of all time, including the first two Terminator films, Predator, and Total Recall, plus action classics like True Lies and comedies like Twins. But Sly has the Rocky series, with the character being one of the most enduring in screen history, plus First Blood, as well as rock-solid action flicks like Demolition Man and Cliffhanger. For me, choosing between them is next to impossible.

With that in mind, I want to know what YOU all think, so I’m including a quick poll below that you can all take:

So, who is the best: Arnie or Sly? Let us know in the talkbacks which one you prefer and why.
